This is the race we’ve all been waiting for. We are at Pocono Raceway with Motive to witness a generational gap in Ford Performance. It’s the $325,000 track monster versus the most capable naturally aspirated Mustang ever built.
In the left lane: The 2026 Ford Mustang GTD. It’s a GT3 car for the road, packing a targeted 815 HP from its supercharged 5.2L V8. With inboard suspension and active aero, it’s designed to conquer the Nürburgring—but today, we see how it handles the Long Pond Straight.
In the right lane: The 2026 Mustang Dark Horse. The current pinnacle of the 5.0L Coyote legacy, pushing 500 HP. While it’s the underdog on paper, the Dark Horse is known for its incredible gearing and top-end stability.
The Challenge:
-
Start Speed: 65 MPH Roll
-
Race Distance: 1/3 Mile
-
Location: Pocono Raceway "Tricky Triangle"
Is the GTD’s massive price tag and 300+ horsepower advantage enough to make this a landslide, or can the Dark Horse stay in the rearview mirror long enough to keep it interesting?
